Watch Climate Conversations: Voting for Resilience

“Climate change is here and it’s time to adapt. And I think that’s a really telling statement that doesn’t take us away from our climate mitigation priorities at all, but refocuses some of that energy toward making sure that we can adapt to what is here and what is coming in the future.” – Allison Chan, Save The Bay

On October 21, Save The Bay Action Fund, Greenbelt Alliance, and SPUR hosted a panel discussion about Proposition 4, the Climate Bond. The conversation featured Assemblymember Diane Papan of District 21; Jordan Grimes, the State and Regional Resilience Manager at Greenbelt Alliance; Sarah Atkinson, the Hazard Resilience Senior Policy Manager at SPUR; and Nadia Anderson, PhD, Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President of Policy, Strategy and Operations at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.

The Bay Area faces growing risks from climate change, including increased flooding along the shoreline and in our neighborhoods. Proposition 4 on the November ballot will help California prepare for these risks by investing in urgently needed projects that promote resilience and protect our communities.

“The question is not, can we afford to do this? It’s can we afford not to? We are talking about preventive maintenance here, and we’re talking about whether or not if we don’t do this, will things be more expensive in the future? And the answer is ‘yes’.” – Jordan Grimes, Greenbelt Alliance
