First Fridays @ MLK Nursery

Please join us in our native plant nursery located at MLK Regional Shoreline in Hayward. This event is part of a series called First Fridays that will occur on the first Friday of the month at our MLK Plant Nursery, and feature seasonal tasks, including things like; fertilizing plants, weeding invasives around the site, shoveling soil, transplanting seedlings, pruning plants, seed cleaning and more! Tasks will depend on the season and what is needed at the time to keep our native plants alive and well, and our nursery safe from pathogens and invasive plants. Our staff will be on site to answer questions and provide instructions and guidance for all tasks.

These events are welcome to all ages and abilities, there are tasks that involve bending and crouching for extended periods, but most can be modified. We also have chairs and stools accessible. No experience needed, all tools will be provided, we ask you to please wear closed toed shoes and clothes that are okay to wear some dirt!
