Shoreline Cleanup and Native Planting on the MLK Shoreline (Oakland)

January 17, 2026 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This program will be a great way to help our bay in 2 ways: planting native plants on the shoreline and removing some of the trash that washes ashore! The cleanup will take place at Damon Slough, a heavily impacted estuary at the end of the Lion Creek and Arroyo Viejo Creek watersheds. The salt marshes in the area catch a lot of the pollutants that wash down into the creeks and we can stop them from causing harm in the bay by pulling them out.

Accessibility: Parking lot connects to paved trails. Planting will be on sloped terrain that can be slippery when wet. Most trash will be located off of dirt trails and uneven beach terrain. Flush bathrooms are available.

Please dress according to the weather and bring a water bottle. Gloves and tools will be provided. Save The Bay strives to include volunteers of all abilities in our programs. If you have specific access needs, please reach out to hlim@savesfbay.org to coordinate.
