Come join us at the Palo Alto Baylands to help us clear invasive plants to make room for natives. Native plants are the backbone holding the earth at the Palo Alto Baylands together and the invasive species we will be pulling threaten to crowd them out and deprive all species (including humans!) that benefit from healthy salt marshes. There may also be additional work to do at our native plant nursery, which we use to propagate plants for sites all around the bay!
Accessibility: This program involves walking on paved and gravel trails and working on a sloped dirt surface. There is a porta-potty a 10 minute walk away from the site. Planting involves kneeling or sitting on potentially uneven or muddy terrain. Parking is directly adjacent to the planting area.
Please dress according to the weather, bring a water bottle and a snack. Gloves, hand picks, foam kneepads and/or other necessary tools will be provided. Programs may be cancelled in the event of heavy winds, poor air quality and/or lightning. Weather is changeable in the Bay, so Save The Bay will make the call one hour before the start of program. Program participants will receive a cancellation email if the program is cancelled. Save The Bay strives to include volunteers of all abilities in our programs. If you have specific access needs, please reach out to hlim@savesfbay.org to coordinate.
