Nursery Work Day and Beach Cleanup at MLK Regional Shoreline
April 6 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us for a volunteer program at our native plant nursery in Oakland. We grow native plants from seeds that we harvest locally to plant at our sites all around San Francisco Bay! Growing thousands of these plants healthy while preventing the spread of sudden oak death is a very involved process with many stages that we really appreciate volunteer aid in undertaking! We will also be doing a small beach cleanup as the MLK shoreline is a heavily impacted estuary at the end of the Lion Creek and Arroyo Viejo Creek watersheds. The salt marshes in the area catch a lot of the pollutants that wash down into the creeks and we can stop them from causing harm in the bay by pulling them out.
Please dress according to the weather and bring a water bottle. Gloves and tools will be provided. Save The Bay strives to include volunteers of all abilities in our programs. If you have specific access needs, please reach out to hlim@savesfbay.org to coordinate.
