Coastal Cleanup Day at MLK Regional Shoreline (Oakland)
September 21 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us for this year’s annual Coastal Cleanup Day and be a part of a statewide effort that brings tens of thousands of volunteers to our shorelines to pull hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash from our coast and waterways every year! Save The Bay will be hosting our cleanup at Damon Slough, a heavily impacted estuary at the end of the Lion Creek and Arroyo Viejo Creek watersheds. The salt marshes in the area catch a lot of the pollutants that wash down into the creeks and we can stop them from causing harm in the bay by pulling them out.
Please dress according to the weather and bring a water bottle. Gloves and tools will be provided. Our trash cleanup can involve walking over uneven beach terrain. Trash can also be picked up from the side of the paved stretches of the trail connecting to the paved parking lot. Save The Bay strives to include volunteers of all abilities in our programs. If you have specific access needs, please reach out to hlim@savesfbay.org to coordinate.
